Southern Sweet Tea

Growing up in the south, tea meant iced sweet tea. When I got home from school, my mother would have a fresh pitcher of southern sweet tea waiting. Over a shared glass, we would discuss the day and cure all the problems of my world. We probably had more quality time over a glass of sweet tea than at any other time.

Growing up this way, tea holds a special meaning for me. I've shared this tradition with my own sons, all of them are tea addicts like myself. A glass of tea is much more than a refreshing beverage, it is a calm oasis in the storm of life.

Living in Florida, southern style sweet tea is not always available. So, I have learned to make do with an unsweetened glass of tea, adding a pink thing and lemon to make it palatable and telling myself it is healthier.

Then a few years ago, my doctor recommended cutting my caffeine, and the news media was touting the health benefits of green tea, so I began investigating the many teas available to me.

This site explores the varieties and benefits of tea. I hope you will try some of the many teas available on the market today. Scientists tell me its good for you too!
