Health Benefits Of Black Tea- The Benefit Of Drinking Black Tea

Good news for black tea lovers. Recent research at University College in London indicates that the health benefits of drinking black tea may be equivalent to those of green tea. A recent study found that people who drank tea were able to recover from the effects of stress more quickly. Blood pressure levels returned to normal more quickly and blood cortisol levels dropped more in tea drinkers.

Many people have long believed that drinking tea helps them relax from the stresses of their lives. Now this study shows that there is scientific evidence to back up these beliefs. While we do not yet know which components of tea are responsible for the stress relief, research is ongoing.

Benefits of Drinking Tea

Some of the key benefits of drinking tea are now believed to be:

Prevention of many cancers
Recent evidence suggests that regular tea drinking provides protection against many cancers. Black tea contains Theaflavin-3-Monogallate (TF-2) which is an anit-cancer compound in the polyphenol family, as well as being rich in flavonoids which are widely believed to protect body cells from damage. Drinking one cup of tea provides the same anti-oxidant content as 4 cups of orange juice.

Decreased risk of heart disease and heart attacks
Tea antioxidants and polyphenols help reduce the risk of heart disease by maintaining the health of the circulatory system. Scientists believe that anti-oxidants reduce the damage that contributes to many chronic diseases including heart disease.

Decreased risk of strokes.
Black tea also contains vitamin C and E, which fight the free radicals that cause aging. Researchers are still studying the rejuvenative properties of tea. Additional research is ongoing to determine the beneficial effects that tea has on lowering blood sugar and its potential to improve mental alertness.

Quick recovery of normal blood pressure after stress.

Lowering of bad cholesterol levels.

Lowering of blood sugar levels.
